Privacy policy

Overview

The protection of personal data and the responsible handling of information that you entrust to us are important and special concerns for us. TT-Line only processes personal data in accordance with the statutory regulations, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
The data protection declaration shows you how and to what extent we process your personal data. Please read the data protection declaration in full before using this website and/or contacting us.
We do not always collect directly from you. For example, if a person sends a travel registration, a travel reservation or an information request also with your name, we receive your data indirectly. As a data subject, you are also then covered by data protection law and must be informed. The same applies if a company or other institution contacts us and provides us with the data of a contact person (name, contact details) or a truck driver, such as the name, e-mail adress, telephone number, nationality, date of birth as well as expiry date and issued country of the travel documents, e.g. in the Klaipeda service.

Responsible person in the sense of data protection law
Please see imprint.

Processing of personal data
TT-Line processes your personal data directly from you when you book a ferry crossing, make a reservation, a reversal takes place or you otherwise use our service, for example by using our website or contacting us. Personal data will only be transferred to third parties if this is necessary for the purpose of processing the contract or for billing purposes, or if you have given your prior consent. We have outlined the processing purposes with regulations and retention periods in detail below.
a) We use your data to provide services, especially ferry services, as well as to process your purchases, e.g. what, when and where you bought it, how you paid for it as well as credit or other payment information, respectively in the context of pre-contractual relationships of trust and to advise and answer your questions in this context as well as to exercise and fulfil rights and obligations arising from these legal relationships, we collect personal information about the traveller, such as the name, postal address, email address, telephone number, age group, booking or customer number, payment data, passport data or other identification information. This also includes creditworthiness and scoring checks if you use our services on account. The data is stored for the purpose of processing the contract and then for 10 years, beginning with the end of the year of the last business transaction.

b) We process personal data to provide our service, i.e. in particular to advise you and answer your questions outside of booked services in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 letter f DSGVO. After 2 years, starting with the expiry of the year of the enquiry, we delete their data, unless a further contact or transaction has taken place in the meantime or the information belongs to a legal relationship with the data subject.

c) We also use your data to send you information about our services that you have requested or in which you are interested, for example as part of an e-mail newsletter, including personalization, coordination with your interests, in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter f DSGVO or in full or in addition with your consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter a DSGVO). After 2 years, beginning with the expiry of the year of the request, we delete their data, unless in the meantime a further contact or a transaction has taken place or the information belongs to a legal relationship with the data subject.

d) We use the data you provide within our feedback tool IFeedback for the continuous improvement of our service in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 DSGVO. After 2 years, beginning with the expiration of the year of the request, we delete their data, unless in the meantime a further contact or a transaction has taken place or the information belongs to a legal relationship with the data subject.

e) We pass on your data to authorities and institutions if we are legally obliged to do so, for example as part of anti-money laundering measures. We check every request to ensure that it is within the framework of applicable regulations.

Collection and processing of data when visiting the website
When you visit our website, we collect personal data to enable your respective use (usage data) and security. This includes data on the start, end and subject of your use of the website and, where applicable, identification data (for example, your login data when you log into a secure area such as the My TT-Line area or TT-Line Freight Online Booking). For this purpose, the system collects log data, such as IP address, date and time of the request, content of the request (specific page), access status/HTTP status code, amount of data transferred in each case, website from which the request comes, browser, operating system and its interface, language and version of the browser software. We have outlined in detail below the purposes of the processing of personal data that are associated precisely with the operation of the website.
a) We process data when you visit our website in order to ensure the security of our website and to temporarily store your settings, for example in the shopping basket or for the language, for the retrieval of media content and for payment service providers in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter a DSGVO, otherwise with your consent (see Cookies).
b) When you register via our website, we process your data so that you can use additional functions on the site (user account). We use the data entered and created for the purpose of operating the user account.
c) When registering as a TT-Line freight customer, we process your data, including that of the named contact person, in order to provide information about the transport volume with TT-Line as well as your transport units.
d) Other than necessary cookies
In order to make the visit to our website attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, to display suitable products or for market research, we use so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files with information that can be placed on the user's end device via the browser when visiting a website. When the website is called up again with the same end device, the cookie with the information stored in it can be retrieved.

The associated data processing is described in detail in the information below. Via the cookie banner, you can choose whether you only want to use the website with the technically necessary cookies or whether you give your consent so that we can also use cookies and similar tracking technologies for statistical purposes, to improve the website and for marketing (for details, see our cookie information).
You can revoke this consent in whole or in part at any time with effect for the future. To do this, you can call up the cookie banner again at any time via the following link:

Please note that if you reject cookies used for advertising purposes, you will receive advertising that is less tailored to your interests. However, you will still be able to use the website to its full extent.
We distinguish between cookies that are mandatory for the technical functions of the website and optional cookies.
Functional
Some cookies are necessary for the provision of the website and the associated functions. The legal basis for the use of these cookies is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) DSGVO in the provision and proper and secure operation of the website.

Statistics
In order to further improve our offer and our website, we collect anonymized data for statistics and analyses. With the help of these cookies, we can, for example, determine the number of visitors and the effect of certain pages of our website and optimise our content.

Marketing
We may also use cookies and other tracking technologies to deliver personalized offers and advertisements or measure the success of advertising campaigns on other sites.

Session-Cookies and Permanent Cookies
On the other hand, there are cookies that are only stored on your computer during your respective visit to our website (also called "session cookies") and cookies that are stored for a longer period of time.

e) Web Analytics, Monitoring and Optimization
TT-Line also uses web tracking systems for advertising, market research and to make your use of our website as pleasant as possible. This involves storing data about the use of our website, insofar as you have given your consent to this. This enables us to further develop our website and tailor the content even better to your needs. In addition, the usage profiles are used for so-called retargeting. The legal basis for the processing is your consent given via the cookie banner (Art. 6 para. 1 a DSGVO). You can revoke your consent to the storage of these cookies at any time with effect for the future. To do so, call up your cookie settings in the cookie banner.

Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer by your browser, to help the website analyses how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We use Google Analytics in conjunction with the IP anonymization function. It ensures that Google truncates your IP address within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before transmitting it to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information on our behalf for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

Please find more information on terms of use and data protection at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html and at http://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/.

Hotjar
We use Hotjar on our website. This is a web analytics service provided by Hotjar Ltd, Level 2, St Julians Business Centre, 3, Elia Zammit Street, St Julians STJ 1000, Malta, Europe, hereinafter referred to as "Hotjar", and is used to analyse the usage patterns of our website.

Hotjar enables us to log and analyse your usage behavior on our website, such as your mouse movements or mouse clicks. However, your visit to our website is anonymized. In addition, Hotjar evaluates information about your operating system, your Internet browser, incoming or outgoing links, the geographical origin as well as the type and trigger of the terminal device you are using and processes this information for statistical purposes. Hotjar may also obtain direct feedback from you. In addition, Hotjar offers further data protection information at https://www.hotjar.com/privacy.
f) Plugins and embedded functions and contents
We include functional and content elements on our website that are obtained from the servers of their providers named below (hereinafter "third-party providers"). These can be, for example, graphics, videos or social media buttons and posts (hereinafter "content").

The integration always requires that the third-party providers of this content process the IP address of the user, as without the IP address they could not send the content to their browser. The IP address is thus required for the presentation of these contents or functions. We endeavor to only use content whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. Third-party providers may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as "web beacons") for statistical or marketing purposes. The "pixel tags" can be used to analyse information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user's device and may contain, among other things, technical information about the browser and operating system, referring websites, time of visit and other information about the use of our online offering, as well as being linked to such information from other sources.

If we ask users for their consent to use the third-party providers, the legal basis for processing data is consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) DSGVO). Otherwise, users' data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO). In this context, we would also like to draw your attention to the use of cookies under "Other than necessary cookies" in this privacy policy.

Trustpilot
TT-Line AB, Hamngatan 9, Trelleborg, 231 42 Trelleborg / TT-Line GmbH & Co. KG, Zum Hafenplatz 1, 23570 Lübeck-Travemünde, may contact you via email to invite you to review any services and/or products you received from us [in order to collect your feedback and improve our services and products] (the “Purpose”). We use an external company, Trustpilot A/S (“Trustpilot”), to collect your feedback which means that we will share your name, email address and reference number with Trustpilot for the Purpose. If you want to read more about how Trustpilot process your data, you can find their Privacy Policy here.

Trusted Shops Trustbadge
The Trusted Shops trust badge is integrated on this website to display our ratings, which may have been collected with Trusted Shops. This serves to protect our legitimate interests in the optimal marketing of our offer, which outweigh our interests in the context of a balancing of interests pursuant to Art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The trust badge and the services advertised with it are an offer of Trusted Shops GmbH, Subbelrather Str. 15C, 50823 Cologne. When the Trustbadge is called up, the web server automatically saves a so-called server log file, which contains, for example, your IP address, the date and time of the call-up, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider (access data) and documents the call-up. This access data is not evaluated and is automatically overwritten at the latest seven days after the end of your visit to the site. Further personal data is only transferred to Trusted Shops if you have consented to this, have decided to use Trusted Shops products after completing an order or have already registered to use them. In this case, the contractual agreement between you and Trusted Shops applies.

g) Linking of social media via graphic or text link
We also promote presences on the social networks listed below on our website. The integration takes place via a linked graphic of the respective network. The use of this linked graphic prevents a connection from being automatically established to the respective server of the social network when a website with a social media advertisement is called up in order to display a graphic of the respective network itself. Only by clicking on the corresponding graphic is the user redirected to the service of the respective social network.
After the user has been forwarded, information about the user is collected by the respective network. It cannot be ruled out that the data collected in this way is processed in the USA.
This is initially data such as IP address, date, time and page visited. If the user is logged into his or her user account of the respective network during this time, the network operator may be able to assign the collected information of the user's specific visit to the user's personal account. If the user interacts via a "Share" button of the respective network, this information may be stored in the user's personal user account and may be published. If the user wants to prevent the collected information from being directly assigned to his/her user account, he/she must log out before clicking on the graphic. In addition, it is possible to configure the respective user account accordingly.

You can object to the use of your e-mail address for such advertising purposes, in particular the sending of our newsletter, at any time at info@ttline.com.

Opposition
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data relating to you which is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) or (f) DSGVO. We will then examine the justification of the objection.

If the personal data concerning you is processed for the purpose of direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of the personal data concerning you for the purpose of such marketing; this also applies to profiling, insofar as it is associated with such direct marketing. The direct advertising will then be terminated after a completion period of maximum 4 weeks.

Your Questions
If you wish to assert your rights, revoke consent, declare your objection or have any other questions regarding the processing of your personal data, please contact info@ttline.com.

Address of the Data Protection Officer
If you are of the opinion that we are not processing your data in accordance with data protection regulations, please contact our data protection officer, who is committed to independence and confidentiality, including towards us. If you ask him a question, he will investigate the matter and send you an answer, initially an interim message if necessary. However, if your enquiry concerns a service topic itself, use contact details to us in the imprint. This is because the data protection officer can only provide answers to your data protection concerns, as he is only responsible for monitoring our data protection-compliant actions. You can reach our company data protection officer for initial contact at datenschutz@ttline.com.

Right of appeal
Are you not satisfied with the response of the Data Protection Officer? You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement, in accordance with the law, if you consider that the processing of personal data concerning you infringes the GDPR.

Adaptation of this privacy policy

Please note that we adapt our data protection declaration from time to time in consideration of changes in the law. New legal requirements, business decisions or adaptations to technical developments may require changes to our privacy policy. If in doubt, please read our data protection declaration - when you contact us and before each visit to this website - to learn of any such changes. We know that this involves effort. But this effort serves your interests, which data protection law aims to protect with the information obligations imposed on us. You will always find the latest version of our data protection declaration on our website.
