From Nils Holgersson I to our new LNG Green Ship
2022: Fleet growth with the first new Green Shipp "Nils Holgersson VII"
- First official journey of the new Nils Holgersson on April 26 from Travemünde to Trelleborg.
- Renaming from Nils Holgersson VI to Akka.
2020: Fleet growth through Marco Polo
- In January, Marco Polo is put into service on route Trelleborg-Klaipėda.
- Opening of the newly built TT-Line Terminal in Klaipėda.
2019: TT-Line is awarded a prize for the renovation of Peter Pan
- TT-Line is awarded with the Shippax Conversion Award for extending the vessel Peter Pan.
- Start of TT-Line's Green Ship newbuilding with first steel cutting in December in Nanjing, China.
- Extensive rebuilding and refurbishment of the ferry Barbara Krahulik for converting it to Sweden Ferry Marco Polo, including the installation of a scrubber.
2018: Lengthening of Peter Pan and TT-Line starts new service to Lithuania and signs contract for new Green Ship
- Extension of the Peter Pan by approx. 30 meters to about 220 meters.
- Conversion of the public area of Robin Hood and Nils Dacke.
- On 9th of June, TT-Line opens its service from/to Klaipėda in Lithuania
- TT-Line signs contract for new Green Ship, which will be built in China.
2017: Wet scrubber on Peter Pan
- Installation of a hybrid wet scrubber on Peter Pan.
- Conversion of the public area of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
- On 24th of June, TT-Line opens the Świnoujście-Rønne/Bornholm service, which was offered for two summer seasons.
2016: Wet scrubber on Nils Holgersson
- Installation of a hybrid wet scrubber on Nils Holgersson.
- Increase of the departure frequency on the Rostock route from 3 to up to 6 departures per direction.
2014: New route between Świnoujście and Trelleborg
- On 7th of January, TT-Line opens its Poland-Sweden line from Świnoujście to Trelleborg with the ferry Nils Dacke.
- In July, the MOS project "Greed Bridge on Nordic Corridor" was successfully implemented with the pilot installation of a hybrid wet scrubber on Nils Dacke.
2013: Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG becomes shareholder
- Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG has held all the shares in TT-Line and is therefore the sole shareholder of TT-Line.
2012: 50 years of TT-Line!
- TT-Line celebrates anniversaries on both routes: On 10th of January 2012 the 20th anniversary Rostock-Trelleborg and on 28th of March 2012 the 50th anniversary on the route Travemünde-Trelleborg!
2010: Charter of Götaland
- TT-Line is chartering the Götaland that has been released Scandlines' Travemünde service for 9 months for use on its own Travemünde route.
2008: Green Bridge Concept
- The new Green Bridge Concept of TT-Line is introduced.
- TT-Line carries 358.824 freight units and 696.826 passengers.
2007: 45th anniversary
- TT-Line celebrated its 45th anniversary on 28th of March.
- Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG acquires the shares of Signal Iduna in TT-Line and becomes majority shareholder (83.5%).
2006: Expansion of the Scandinavian Quay
- Due to the dynamic growth of RoRo traffic on the Baltic Sea, Skandianvienkai in Lübeck will be considerably expanded.
- The extensive expansion measures include a new terminal and office building. In August, TT-Line merges its Hamburg and Travemünde organisations in the Hafenhaus.
- The six TT-Line ferries between Travemünde, Rostock and Trelleborg carried a total of 685.179 passengers in 2006. The number of trucks and trailers transported rose to 335.641.
2005: Catamaran Delphin is sold
- In May TT-Line sells the Catamaran Delphin to Saudi Arabia.
2004: Peter Pan receives the grade "very good"
- In the ADAC´s annual safety test of european ferries, Peter Pan is the only one of the Baltic Sea ferries tested to receive the grade "very good".
2003: Innovation Award
- On 6th of September, TT-Line opens the Travemünde-Helsingborg service, which is offered once a week and mainly carries trailers.
- The Swedish Transport Industry Association presents TT-Line with the 2003 Innovation Award.
2002: 10 years Rostock-Trelleborg
- 10th of January: 10th anniversary of the Rostock-Trelleborg connection. Also in January commissioning of the Huckleberry Finn (Peter Pan IV conversion) from Rostock.
- The renowned Lucia-Prize of the Swedish government is awarded to TT-Line.
2001: Nils Holgersson VI & Peter Pan V
- In July Nils Holgersson VI is put into service on the Travemünde-Trelleborg route.
- In October, Nils Holgersson V, converted into a freight ferry, takes up service as Tom Sawyer between Rostock and Trelleborg.
- Peter Pan V completes the new TT-Line fleet on the Travemünde-Trelleborg route in November.
- TT-Line receives the Shippax Award for Pioneering RoPax Technology.
2000: "Transport company of the year"
- Christening and launching of the Nils Holgersson VI on 19th of August in Bremerhaven by Dr Brigitte Oetker.
- TT-Line has been named "Transport Company of the Year" by the Swedish shippers for its consistent use of environmentally friendly, safe and customer-oriented ships.
1999: New environmentally friendly vessels
- TT-Line orders two new ferries from SSW, Bremerhaven, to replace Nils Holgersson V and Peter Pan IV.
- These ships are Green Ships with pod propulsion. As a result, only ships with the environmentally friendly diesel-electric drive will be in service on the Travemünde-Trelleborg route from 2001
1996: Catamaran Delphin
- The new high-speed catamaran of the TT-Line, Delphin, shortens the Rostock-Trelleborg route to almost three hours.
- TT-Line now markets the Rostock services under the TT-Line brand, after DSR has transferred the pool shares to TT-Line.
1995: First Green Ships Robin Hood and Nils Dacke
- In November and December the Green Ships Robin Hood and Nils Dacke are delivered.
- They replace Saga Star and TT-Traveller. The so-called Green Ships are the first big step in TT-Line's orientation towards environmentally friendly ship operation.
1993: Homecoming of Nils Dacke
- Nils Dacke, bought back by TT-Line, is converted like Robin Hood into a combined passage and freight ferry.
- After that, both ships will operate under the new names Peter Pan IV and Nils Holgersson V.
- The cargo ships Saga Star and TT-Traveller are chartered in as replacements.
1992: TR-Line from Rostock to Trelleborg starts
- In the pool with DSR, Rostock, a new ferry line between Rostock and Trelleborg is opened under the name TR-Line.
- The charter ships Kahleberg and Marco Polo will be used.
- Nils Holgersson and Nils Dacke leave the pool at the end of 1992. TT-Line will then operate the service between Travemünde and Trelleborg on its own again.
1991: Gotlandsbolaget
- Swedcarrier leaves the pool and the shares are taken over by Gotlandsbolaget
1989: Delivery of Robin Hood
- The second combined rail/freight ferry Robin Hood is delivered and put into service. The ferry replaces Saga Star, which is sold to France.
1988: Delivery of Nils Dacke
- The combined rail/freight ferry Nils Dacke is delivered and put into service. The ferry replaces Saga Wind, which is sold to Sweden.
1987: Swedcarrier
- Nils Holgersson IV is delivered to pool partner Swedcarrier and goes into service under the swedish flag.
- Robin Hood (formerly Peter Pan) is sold to Greece and renamed Fedra. Saga Wind is chartered by TT-Line.
1986: Peter Pan III and Robin Hood
- Peter Pan III has put into service and Peter Pan II is renamed Robin Hood.
1985: Transport capacity is increasing
- The annual transport capacity has now increased to 701.705 passengers and 93.552 freight units.
1984: The sale of Nils Holgersson III
- Nils Holgersson III is sold to Tasmania.
1982: Focus on Trelleborg
- Traffic to Malmö and Helsingborg is discontinued. From now on the focus is on Trelleborg.
1980: TT-Saga-Line
- Foundation of a pool with Saga Linjen, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish State Railways, under the name TT-Saga Line.
- The line serves the swedish ports Helsingborg, Malmö and Trelleborg with six ships from Travemünde.
- In 1984 the ferry company Saga Linjen is renamed in Swedcarrier. The chartered Espresso Olbia replaces Dana Sirena as Robin Hood II in summer service.
1978: "Goodbye" Oliver Twist
- Oliver Twist is chartered to Lion Ferry.
1977: Replacement of Oliver Twist and charter of Robin Hood
- Oliver Twist is too small for summer service and will be replaced by chartered Dana Sirena under the name Robin Hood.
1976: New route between Travemünde and Helsingborg
- Oliver Twist opens a new service between Travemünde and Helsingborg as well as Copenhagen.
1975: Nils Holgersson III
- The sister ship of Peter Pan, Nils Holgersson III, is delivered. Nils Holgersson II is renamed Oliver Twist and used in summer service to Helsinki/Danzig/Tallinn and Rønne.
1974: Peter Pan II
- The first ship of the third generation is put into service: Peter Pan II.
1973: Peter Pan I is sold to P&O
- Peter Pan I is sold to P&O Ferries and than used as Panther in the English Channel.
1971: Several tourist offers
- Expansion of the touristic offer by creating through fares to Finland and Bornholm and later to Poland and Gotland.
1967: Commissioning of Nils Holgersson II
- Commissioning of the sister ship Nils Holgersson II. Nils Holgersson I was renamed Gösta Berling and chartered out to the Mediterranean.
1965: Peter Pan I
- The first ship of the second generation is put into service: Peter Pan I.
1962: Nils Holdersson I
- On 28th of March, the passenger and freight ferry Nils Holgersson opens the regular year-round ferry service between Travemünde and Trelleborg.
About TT-Line
Since 1962, the family-owned company TT-Line has been connecting the German port Travemünde with the Swedish port Trelleborg and has continuously expanded its fleet and route network ever since. Today, our ferries operates at these destinations almost daily.
TT-Line's awards
TT-Line's technology and environmental management has already received several awards.
2022: RoPax ferries of the Year 2022 award for our Green Ships Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan
2019: Shippax Conversion Award for extending the vessel Peter Pan
2004: ADAC´s annual safety test of european ferries - Peter Pan is the only one of the Baltic Sea ferries receiving the grade "very good"
2003: The Swedish Transport Industry Association awards the "2003 Innovation Award" to TT-Line
2002: Lucia-Prize for the Swedish government
